What's stereotype threat and how can I minimize the impact?

Stereotype threat can best be described as: "Stereotype threat refers to being at risk of confirming, as self-characteristic, a negative stereotype about one's group.

There are a lot of stereotypes that I could fill in this role: woman, millennial, finance arrogance, "economics" major. Likely the strongest one is the "woman" one since there will be a great deal of millennials in my class. Women can be perceived to be not as advanced technically, and the orry for me would be that I may not set my personal standards and goals high enough.
